Small group tour to Mount Etna, Europe’s tallest and most active volcano standing at 3 357 metres a.s.l. and denominated as a UNESCO site in 2013.
Departure by chauffeur-driven car at 10:00 and arrival at about 11:00 at the Etna Sud station Rifugio Sapienza at a height of 1 910 metres. The following 2 hours can be spent for a soft trekking around the more recent lava flow areas and the extinct Silvestri craters.
During the drive up the mountainside with the help of our Audio Guide we will be happy to share with you some information about the history of the volcano and its major eruptions, the flora and the fauna, local traditions, the colourful folklore and Sicilian cuisine.
Once at Rifugio Sapienza, there is a stop of 2 hours which guests can use freely by soft-trekking in the areas of the most recent lava flow or choosing to go higher up with the cable car. We prefer to leave our guests free to organize their own time, in the certainty that whatever option they choose will allow them to truly live an unforgettable experience.
Departure at 13:00 from Rifugio Sapienza in the direction of the Alcantara Gorges Botanical and Geological Park and arrival at around 14:00.
Stop of 3 hours to visit the enchanting nature trail of the Alcantara Gorges Botanical and Geological Park, where you can contemplate the internal and most evocative part of the Gorges from above and then descend (via lift service) to the River to discover the Gorges from below.
In summer season we advise you to bring your swimsuit, beach slippers and beach towel to be able to walk along the river and swim by diving into the beautiful waters of the Gorge.
Departure at 17:00 from the Alcantara Gorges towards Catania and arrival around 18:00.

Possible activities:
- walking around the Silvestri craters and one of the craters of the year 2001,
- having a quad excursion (extra cost),
- having a snack on the slopes of Etna (just remember to bring a sandwich and a bottle of water with you),
- having an aperitive in a bar/restaurant (extra cost),
- shopping of souvenirs.

14:00 Arrival to Alcantara Gorges. Beginning of the guide-free walking tour. Stop of 3 hours with free time.
17:00 End of the walking tour. Departure to Catania. 1 hour of driving.

The cost of the small group tour includes car or minivan, driver, Audio Guide (English and Italian languages).
Extra such as restaurants, wine tastings, entrance tickets, cable cars, official guides etc. are at the client’s expense.
